The Hulahula River carves a deep path through this portion of the North Slope, serving as a central drainage for the high-altitude terrain within the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. In the southeastern corner, the Esetuk Glacier feeds into Esetuk Creek, highlighting the active glacial landscape that persists in this protected northern frontier. Much of the southern half of the quadrangle falls within the Mollie Beattie Wilderness, a designation that preserves the primitive character of the Brooks Range foothills. The map reveals a network of alpine watercourses including Kolotuk Creek and Katak Creek, which navigate the steep contours of the Romanzof Mountains. This 2023 survey provides a clear view of the natural boundaries and hydrologic systems in a region defined by its conservation status and lack of permanent human infrastructure.
