The high plateau country along the boundary of Uintah and Grand Counties is defined by a series of prominent landforms and deep drainage systems. Seep Ridge and Monument Ridge dominate the northern terrain, providing the spine for Seep Ridge Rd, which serves as the primary corridor through this isolated landscape. Evidence of the region's energy resources is found in the Horse Point Gas Field and the Westwater Gas Field to the south. Human settlement is sparse, represented by the Tomlinson Ranch near the mouth of Horse Canyon. The landscape is characterized by its dramatic verticality, with named points such as Horse Point, Split Point, and Mexico Point overlooking a complex network of canyons, including PR Canyon and Main Canyon.
