Pando sits along the Eagle River in this high-elevation mountain corridor during the 1970s, serving as a focal point for former military and industrial activity. The landscape is dominated by the footprint of Camp Hale (Site), the World War II-era training ground for the 10th Mountain Division, which is also recognized here by the Camp Hale Memorial Campground. The map preserves the complex infrastructure of this alpine valley, from the Old Railroad Grade and Wurts Ditch to numerous Mines and the El Capitan Mine.
