About this map

Little Missouri National Grassland dominates the western portion of this landscape along the border of McKenzie County and Dunn County. The area is defined by a series of prominent drainage divides, including the Eisenhower Divide, Bonnie Divide, and Dillinger Divide, which separate the rugged network of creeks and coulees. Water flows through numerous seasonal and perennial channels such as Petes Cr, Russian Cr, and Norred Cr. Industrial activity in this portion of the Williston Basin is evidenced by the Little Knife Oil Field, situated in the southern reach of the map. Local transit is limited to a sparse grid of section line roads and named routes like Charlie Bob Creek Rd, which provide access to the high plateaus and deep cuts of Oak Gulch and Hay Coulee.
