The high-desert landscape of Uinta County is defined here by the small settlement of Piedmont and a sophisticated network of water management features. The terrain is characterized by complex drainages and ridges, such as Moslander Ridge and Soda Hollow, where the dry environment necessitated the creation of numerous catchments. This 2015 survey reveals several named impoundments including the Guild and Dean Reservoir, Little Piedmont Reservoir, and the Byrne Reservoir.
