Glacial depressions and watercourses define this rural landscape along the boundary of Stevens and Pope counties. The Pomme de Terre River and its associated chain, including N Pomme de Terre Lake and the larger Pomme de Terre Lakes, dominate the western half of the territory, while the Chippewa River meanders through the eastern section. This hydrographic network is interspersed with numerous smaller basins such as Swan Lake, Bjork Lake, and Scandia Lake, reflecting the region's post-glacial topography.
