Thunder Basin National Grassland dominates the northern reaches of this Converse County landscape, where the high plains are carved by an intricate network of seasonal drainages. The topography is defined by the Dry Fork Cheyenne River in the northeast and numerous tributary creeks, including Duck Cr, Brush Cr, and Skunk Cr. This 2017 survey illustrates a sparsely settled region of eastern Wyoming, marked by high points such as Monument Hill and the namesake Red Hill. Human presence is primarily defined by the Willow Creek Rd and the East Fork Willow Creek drainage system, which provide the principal landmarks for navigation through these vast public and private rangelands.
