Hanging Woman Creek and its many seasonal tributaries define this high-plains landscape along the border of Big Horn County, Montana, and Sheridan County, Wyoming. The drainage network is particularly dense here, featuring numerous named branching coulees such as Box Elder Draw, Antelope Draw, and Roundup Draw. This topography is characteristic of the Powder River Basin, where erosion has carved intricate patterns into the sedimentary layers of the northern Great Plains.
