Roxbury serves as the central hub of this Catskill mountain landscape, where the East Branch Delaware River winds through the valley floor. The settlement pattern follows the drainage of the river and its many tributaries, including Pleasant Valley Brook and Batavia Kill. Significant local history and genealogy markers are evident in the numerous burial sites scattered across the township, such as Roxbury Cem, Yellow Church Cem, and Tyler Cem near the cascading Stratton Falls.
