Salt Wells Flat and the surrounding basin floor define the southern portion of this 1960s landscape in Box Elder County. The terrain is dominated by the steep rise of the Hansel Mountains, which separate the expansive Sage Valley to the west from the lower Hansel Valley to the east. This area of northern Utah shows a landscape largely shaped by its hydrology, with Hansel Valley Wash draining through the eastern corridor toward the salt flats.

Industrial and utility infrastructure is limited but distinct, featuring a long Pipeline cutting diagonally across the flats and a Radio Tower positioned on a prominent ridge within the range. Evidence of localized excavation is visible at a Borrow Pit near the edge of the Mud Flat. The presence of Salt Wells near the southern boundary provides a rare named water source in this arid environment, highlighting the essential features that once dictated movement and settlement in the region.
