About this map

The small settlement of Sanders occupies the northern edge of this landscape, situated at the boundary between the Coeur D'alene Indian Reservation and the timbered reaches of the St Joe National Forest. The topography is defined by significant elevation changes, from the heights of Squaw Hump in the northwest to Prospect Peak and Holaki Knob in the south. The southern half of the map is dominated by the dense drainage networks of the St Joe National Forest, including Meadow Creek and Crane Creek, while the north features the upper reaches of Hangman Creek and its various forks. Cultural landmarks are scattered along the ridgelines and valleys, notably the Mary Minerva McCroskey Memorial State Park and a local Cem near Sanders. The Benewah Co Latah Co Boundary cuts across the center, marking the transition between these two northern Idaho counties.
