Turtle Creek winds through the southeastern corner of Rock County in the late nineteenth century, serving as a primary geographic anchor for the rural townships of Bradford, Clinton, and Turtle. The landscape is defined by its agrarian structure and a developing transportation network, most notably at Clinton Junction, where the intersection of the Chicago Milwaukee and Saint Paul Railroad and the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad created a vital transit hub.
