The village of Sinking Spring anchors this 1961 survey, situated at the crossroads of early regional travel in Highland County. The landscape is defined by the winding course of Ohio Brush Creek and its many tributaries, including Baker Fork and Middle Fork. This area is of significant archaeological and historical importance, containing the Serpent Mound State Memorial and the large hilltop enclosure of the Fort Hill State Memorial, along with several smaller Indian Mounds scattered near the creek banks.
