Wallowa National Forest land defines this corner of Northeast Oregon, where a series of prominent ridges and drainages shape the high-country landscape. This 1990 provisional survey documents the working character of the forest, centered on the Sled Springs Work Center and the remote Feagin Ranch. The topography is marked by significant rises such as Wayne Butte and the long spines of Mc Alister Ridge and Starvation Ridge, which separate the various creek systems including Mud Creek and Evans Creek.
