About this map

Three Chopt Road cuts a diagonal path through the Piedmont terrain of the Louisa and Goochland county line, following an ancient travel corridor that predates the modern infrastructure emerging in the late 1960s. The landscape is defined by the winding course of the South Anna River and its numerous tributaries, including Deep Creek and Big Lickinghole Creek. Small rural communities such as Hadensville, Gum Spring, and East Leake serve as anchors for local life, supported by a network of country congregations like South Anna Ch and Providence Ch. Of particular historical note is the Shelfar Sch and the transition of the land as modern pipelines and roads marked as under construction begin to overlay the traditional farming and forest tracts of central Virginia.
