Clarence Lake sits at the center of this high-elevation landscape in the Talkeetna Mountains, surrounded by a complex system of glacial drainages. The hydrology of the area is defined by the diverging paths of Kosina Creek and Gilbert Creek, which carve deep contours through the township boundaries of t30n r8e and t30n r9e. This 2016 survey captures the area's natural drainage patterns before modern human development, showing a wilderness of seasonal wetlands and high alpine slopes. The map is primarily a study of topography and water, tracing the winding course of Kosina Creek as it moves through the northwestern portion of the quadrangle, serving as a critical reference for understanding the remote interior of the Matanuska-Susitna Borough.
