Tell sits at the northern edge of this West Texas landscape, where the agricultural plains meet the increasingly complex drainage systems of the Rolling Plains. The area is defined by the convergence of several significant watercourses, most notably the N Pease River which winds across the center of the sheet. Its wide, braided channel is joined by tributaries including Richland Cr and Running Water Cr, creating a highly dissected topography south of the Tell settlement.
