Susitna sits at the edge of a complex network of waterways and wetlands in this portion of the Matanuska-Susitna Borough. The landscape is defined by the wandering courses of the Lewis River and Ivan River, which weave through low-lying marshlands before meeting the more structured elevations to the east. To the north, Wolverine Cr drains the higher terrain, providing a look at the natural drainage patterns of this Alaskan wilderness. The transition from the alluvial flats of the river systems to the rising slopes of South Peak illustrates the topographical variety characteristic of the Cook Inlet region. This survey captures the area’s hydrography and elevation just before the mid-2010s, documenting a remote environment where water and terrain dictate the layout of the land.
