Wagon Track Ridge and the surrounding high desert mesas of the Garfield Co and Mesa Co border are defined by a complex network of canyons and gulches. The terrain is dominated by prominent vertical landmarks including Castle Rock, Pyramid Rock, and the high points of Twin Peaks along S Shale Ridge. To the southeast, the Colorado River cuts through De Beque Canyon, a significant geological corridor where the small settlement of Akin is located.
