The mountain settlement of Warren and the surrounding mining district are the focus of this mid-century survey, conducted shortly after the Idaho gold fields had matured into a landscape of specialized extraction and seasonal ranching. This area, split between the Nez Perce National Forest and Payette National Forest, reveals a history of deep-earth mining at the War Eagle Mine and Rescue Mine, alongside evidence of large-scale dredging visible at the Tailings near Warren Creek.
