Wheatgrass Bench rises above the high desert floor of southeastern Idaho, where agricultural life and water management define the landscape. This 2013 survey documents the sophisticated network of irrigation necessary for farming in the Arbon Valley, including the Bannock Canal, Tyhee Canal, and the Big Siphon Wasteway. The settlement of Bannock sits near the northern edge of the map, adjacent to the massive American Falls Reservoir, which serves as a critical water source for the region.
