About this map

Chignik and the western reaches of the Alaska Peninsula dominate this coastal survey, where the settlement is situated along the sheltered waters of Anchorage Bay. The maritime character of the area is defined by the narrow Chignik Spit and the surrounding waters of Chignik Bay and Mud Bay. Inland, the landscape rises sharply into the peaks of the Aleutian Range, including Chignik Mtn and Chignik Head, creating a topographic barrier between the bays and the tidal expanse of Chignik Lagoon. Local infrastructure is concentrated near the coast, featuring the Chignik Airport and essential transit routes such as Airport Road and Landfill Access Road. To the west, Marshlak Creek drains the high elevations, while prominent coastal landmarks like Negro Head, Browns Point, and Rabbit Point define the jagged shoreline of the peninsula.
