Mt Airy Forest forms a massive green heart at the center of this urbanized landscape, separating the residential expansions of Monfort Heights and White Oak from the industrial corridors to the east. By the early 1960s, the hilltop neighborhoods of Mount Healthy and North College Hill were densely settled, while newer subdivisions like Autumn Acres and Skyline Acres pushed further into the townships of Colerain and Springfield.

Heavy rail infrastructure is prominent along Mill Creek, where the Penn Central and Baltimore and Ohio railroads converge at Ivorydale Junction. This area contrasts sharply with the southern reaches of the map, dominated by the campus of the University of Cincinnati and a high concentration of medical institutions such as General Hospital and Deaconess Hospital. The map also captures the path of Interstate 75 as it moves north through Saint Bernard.
