The boundary between Rio Blanco Co and Garfield Co cuts through this high-altitude landscape of western Colorado, dominated by the intricate drainage systems of the Piceance Basin. The terrain is defined by the deep incisions of Stewart Gulch and its many tributaries, including West Fork Stewart Gulch, East Fork Stewart Gulch, and Dry Fork Stewart Gulch. To the south, the headwaters of Parachute Creek and its West Fork begin their descent through the plateau.

Evidence of natural resource exploration is scattered across the ridges and canyon floors, marked by various Mine and Prospect symbols, as well as numerous Springs like Bragg Spring and Crouch Spring. These water sources were vital for the early ranching and prospecting efforts that utilized the network of jeep trails visible throughout the quadrangle. The map details a transition from the lower elevations of Cutoff Gulch to the prominent height of Davis Point, capturing the area as it was surveyed in the early 1970s.
