1951 Map of Dos Pueblos Canyon

USGS Topo · Published 1965

About this map

Coastal canyons and burgeoning oil infrastructure define this stretch of the Santa Barbara Channel coastline in the early 1950s. The landscape transitions sharply from the high peaks of the Santa Ynez Mountains within the Los Padres National Forest down through a series of named drainages, including Dos Pueblos Canyon, Eagle Canyon, and Winchester Canyon. Along the narrow coastal shelf, the Southern Pacific railroad and Hollister Ave provide the primary transit corridor, linking the settlements of Naples and Ellwood.
