About this map

Oyster Ridge dominates the eastern landscape of this Wyoming coal-mining district, creating a sharp geological boundary that separates the industrial activity of the valley from the high, dissected terrain to the east. The extraction economy of the mid-20th century is clearly visible through the presence of the Radiant Mine and the Lincoln Star Mine, both positioned along the steep flanks of the ridge. These operations were tied directly to the transport network of the Union Pacific Railroad, which threads through the lowlands.
