About this map

The St John River forms a wide northern arc through this section of Aroostook County, serving as the international boundary between Maine and Canada. Along its southern bank, the Bangor and Aroostook railroad connects a string of riverside communities and industrial spurs, including St Luce Sta, Upper Frenchville, and various railroad sidings like Pelletier Siding and Gilman Siding. This rail-and-river corridor supported a landscape of small agricultural settlements and timber processing during the mid-1930s.
