About this map

The confluence of the Blackfoot River and the Clearwater River serves as the focal point for this mid-1960s survey of Missoula County. The landscape is defined by the industrial and transport corridor of the Chicago Milwaukee St Paul and Pacific River, which skirts the southern edge of the Nine Mile Prairie. Settlement is concentrated along this valley floor at Greenough and Sunset, where the Sunset Sch provided a local center for the timber and ranching families of the era.
