Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge dominates this section of western Kodiak Island, where the Karluk River winds through high terrain toward the Shelikof Strait. Surveyed in the early 1950s, the map documents a shoreline defined by landmarks like Rocky Pt and the wide expanse of Sevenmile Beach. Inland, the landscape is punctuated by numerous small lakes and the winding paths of a Tractor Trail that connects isolated structures.

Evidence of human activity is found in small clusters of Cabins near the coast and the Uyak Anchorage, as well as some identified as Cabins (Aban'd). The eastern portion of the sheet opens into Larsen Bay, protected by Harvester Island and Bear Island. This era of mapping, based on aerial photography from 1951 and 1952, provides a record of the island's coastal geography before later developments, showing the exact placement of survey markers like VABM Cape Uyak 1239.
