1959 Map of McCarthy C-4

USGS Topo · Published 1976

About this map

The Nizina River and the braided waters of the Chitistone River dominate this high-altitude landscape, where glacial ice and mountain runoff shape the valley floors. In this late 1950s survey, the primary corridor for movement through the steep terrain is the Goat Trail, which snakes along the heights above the Chitistone Gorge. Evidence of human presence is sparse, marked only by a lone Cabin near the headwaters of Skolai Creek.
