Noatak National Preserve encompasses most of this landscape, where the braided channels of the Kugururok River flow southward through the western Brooks Range. This 2015 study captures a remote portion of the Alaskan Arctic, marked by the administrative boundary between the North Slope Borough and the Northwest Arctic Borough. The terrain transitions from high mountain ridges in the northwest to the wider valley floor of the river basin in the southeast. Notable water features include Lake Kaiyak and its surrounding wetlands, along with the eastern drainage of Trail Cr. The map provides a precise record of the public land survey system divisions, including t33n r13w and t32n r12w, which organize this roadless wilderness area.
