1953 Map of Mt. Pinchot

USGS Topo · Published 1962

About this map

Inyo National Forest and Kings Canyon National Park meet along the dramatic crest of the Sierra Nevada in this early 1950s survey. The high-altitude landscape is defined by the South Fork of the Kings River and the winding John Muir Trail, which traverses through Pinchot Pass and Sawmill Pass. To the east, the terrain drops sharply toward the Owens Valley, where the settlement of Aberdeen sits near the base of the mountains.
