About this map

Tomichi Creek winds through the southern reaches of this landscape, its valley floor defined by the distinct remains of the Old Gunnison River RR Grade and another Old Railroad Grade. These routes trace the historical rail expansion through the Colorado high country, following the natural corridors provided by the creek and its tributaries like Cochetopa Creek. To the north, the terrain rises into the Gunnison National Forest, dominated by the prominent elevation of Signal Peak and the high plateau of Flat Top.
