About this map

Sultan occupies the northern reach of this survey, situated at the confluence of the Sultan River and the Skykomish River. During the mid-century, the area served as a critical corridor for the Great Northern Railroad, which follows the riverbank eastward past the mouth of the Wallace River. South of the valley, the landscape rises into dense upland terrain marked by an extensive network of industrial paths, including the Tolt Truck Trail and various stretches of Old Railroad Grade that hint at earlier timber extraction cycles.
