Warsaw sits atop the high eastern bluffs of the Mississippi River, overlooking a complex network of islands and side channels in the mid-1960s. This riverfront landscape is defined by its strategic position at the confluence of the Fox River and the Mississippi, where the Burlington Northern and Toledo Peoria and Western railroads converge to manage the commerce of the tri-state area. Across the water, Alexandria and Gregory Landing occupy the lower floodplains, while the river itself is fragmented by substantial landforms like Vernon Island and Greys Island.
