Buckle L Ranch serves as a central landmark in this portion of the Texas Rolling Plains, where ranching operations are defined by the winding drainage systems of the N Pease River. The landscape is etched by a complex network of seasonal watercourses, most notably the aptly named Little Nasty Cr and Big Nasty Cr which flow southward toward the river. These geographic features, along with Scatterbranch Cr and Chimney Cr, illustrate the erosional patterns common to the Red River Basin.
