About this map

South Cita Creek winds through the High Plains landscape of Randall County, providing a natural drainage corridor in a region increasingly defined by infrastructure. Based on 1977 aerial photography and 1980 field checks, the landscape shows the intersection of natural topography and mid-century industrial expansion. A large Aqueduct and a Pipeline cut across the terrain, alongside a notable Trans Line, reflecting the critical water and energy movements necessary for regional development. While the area near Neal remains largely open, the map documents the subtle shift towards managed land use in this part of the Texas Panhandle. The southern portion of the sheet is marked by the seasonal drainage of Happy Draw, illustrating the arid-land hydrology characteristic of the Llano Estacado during the late twentieth century.
