The Christmas mining settlement and its associated industrial infrastructure define this portion of the Gila River valley in the late 1960s. Mining activity is prominent along the slopes of the Dripping Spring Mts, evidenced by Tailings Ponds, a Conveyor, and a large Water Tank. To the southeast, the landscape transitions into more isolated mining sites such as Pooles Mine and the Two Queens Mine near Gold Gulch.

The Gila River winds through the center of the sheet, carving a path between Lee Mountain and the western peaks. Pockets of ranching history are visible at the Young Ranch and Reese Ranch in the north, while the Old Mill (Ruins) suggests an earlier era of mineral processing. The network of Jeep Trails and a Pack Trail provides the primary access into the surrounding high country, including Reed Basin and The Tablelands.
