1964 Map of Claysville

Evidence of rural life and early industry is scattered throughout the hills, from the northern Strip Mine to several remote burial grounds such as Trussel Cem and St James Cem. The map captures small rural centers like Coon Island and Good Intent at a time when local institutions like the East-West Finley Sch and Fairmount Ch still served the dispersed agricultural community. Large tracts of conservation land, including State Game Lands No 245, occupy the central ridges between the many branches of Middle Wheeling Creek.
