Shoshone National Forest contains the high-elevation divide where the Washakie Wilderness meets the Shoshone Plateau. The landscape is defined by its drainage basins and peaks, including the prominent Cathedral Peak and Raggedtop Mountain. This 1991 revision illustrates a backcountry environment devoid of major roads, where movement is limited to the Ranger District Trail and the natural corridors of the East Fork Wind River and its many tributaries.
