Evidence of earlier industry and transport survives in the Old Railroad Grade and Old RR Grade, which cut through the terrain near Little Summit and Bear Mountain. The hydrology is particularly complex, defined by the headwaters of Tunkhannock Creek and numerous glacial features such as Tamaque Lake, Deep Lake, and Grass Lake. On the eastern edge, the emerging interstate infrastructure begins to reshape the area near Mount Pocono and Pocono Summit.
