The coastal island landscape of Chugach National Forest is defined here by the deep inlets and protected waterways of Prince William Sound. This 2023 survey illustrates the complex maritime topography of the Knight Island area, where the steep, wooded terrain meets the sea at Herring Bay and Lower Herring Bay. The shoreline is punctuated by prominent navigational markers such as Herring Point and the southwestern extremity of Point Nowell.
