About this map

The Onondaga Indian Reservation dominates the northern landscape of this survey, centered around Onondaga Creek and featuring the historic settlements of Onondaga Castle and Indian Village. The region is defined by deep north-south glacial valleys, where the Syracuse and Binghamton (Division) of the Delaware Lackawanna and Western railroad snakes through the terrain near Apulia Station and Onativia. To the south, a chain of glacial kettle lakes, including Tully Lake, Song Lake, and Crooked Lake, illustrates a transition to the more recreational and agricultural character of the southern hills.
