Winter Ridge and Cherry Mesa dominate this high-desert landscape along the boundary of Uintah and Grand Counties. The terrain is deeply incised by a series of drainages, most notably Cedar Camp Canyon and Hay Canyon, which reveal a remote environment defined by water sources and resource extraction. Evidence of ranching and early energy development is scattered throughout the region, including the Tomlinson Ranch near Meadow Canyon and several Gas Wells within a designated Gas Field.
