About this map

Bangor and the neighboring settlements of Pen Argyl and East Bangor anchor the western portion of this landscape, dominated by the active Slate Quarries and the Old Bangor Slate Quarry. These industrial hubs are connected to the wider region via a dense network of iron, including the Bangor and Portland Railroad and the Central R.R. of New Jersey. The terrain is defined by the sharp rise of Kittatinny Mountain, where the Delaware River carves the dramatic Delaware Water Gap near Mt Tammany.
