Blue Jordan Swamp dominates the northern landscape of this Florida interior, feeding a complex drainage system that includes Reedy Creek and Livingston Creek. The vast expanse of Lake Arbuckle and Reedy Lake bracket a terrain defined by wet depressions and numerous smaller water bodies such as Lake Godwin and Lake Isabell.

Evidence of historical industry and transportation appears in the southern portion of the sheet, where the settlement of Alpine is situated near a Gravel Pit. An extensive Old Railroad Grade cuts across the wetlands, marking a former transportation corridor through what became the Avon Park Bombing Range.
