1967 Map of Mammoth

Infrastructure for mid-century leisure and transit is well-defined, from the Drive-in Theater in the north to the Golf Course and Mammoth County Park surrounding Mammoth Lake. The southern portion of the map is dominated by the steep ascent of Chestnut Ridge, crossed by the Pennsylvania Turnpike and a secondary Toll Road. This 1967 survey captures a community at the intersection of traditional mining, newer suburban developments like Norvelt, and the preserved natural spaces of Donegal.
