Knight Island dominates this portion of Prince William Sound, showing a landscape defined by deep-water arms and isolated coastal outposts during the early 1950s. The map records specific signs of human activity in this maritime wilderness, including a Mine located north of Rua Cove and several Cabins situated along the eastern shore. These small footprints of industry and habitation are tucked between the shoreline of Marsha Bay and the slopes of Iron Mountain.

The complex hydrography of the sound is captured through numerous named passages and inlets, from Snug Harbor in the south to the intricate Bay of Isles further north. Surveyed shortly after the war using photogrammetric methods, the map documents the coastline of Green Island and smaller landmasses like Ingot Island and Disk Island before the 1964 earthquake altered much of the region's shoreline.
