Granbury and the winding course of the Brazos River anchor this late nineteenth-century survey of North Central Texas. The landscape is defined by the river’s dramatic meanders, notably at De Cordova Bend and Mitchell Bend, before the river was heavily managed by modern reservoir systems. The transit network of the era is clearly visible, showing the Fort Worth and Rio Grande Railroad serving the northern reaches, while the Gulf Colorado and Santa Fe Railroad and the Texas Central Railroad navigate the southern portions of the territory.
