Livengood serves as the focal point of this interior Alaska survey, centered on the mining activity and water management systems of the mid-twentieth century. The landscape is defined by the complex network of resource extraction, visible through the extensive Aqueduct and Ditch systems designed to move water for placer mining. These engineering features trace the contours of the hills, feeding into gold-bearing drainages such as Lillian Creek and Myrtle Creek. Evidence of heavy industrial work is noted by the presence of Tailings near the settlement.
